Open to ordinary moments
Padraig O’Morain writes:
We have lost patience with the ordinary moments of our lives. We escape from them as quickly as we can, usually into a smartphone. Try to reverse the direction now and then: escape from the smartphone into ordinary moments. They’re what your life is made up of, after all.”
Next time you find yourself waiting for a friend who’s running late, or queuing at the supermarket, resist the temptation to retreat from the world into your mobile phone. Instead, open all your senses wide and fully experience the ordinary moment around you.
When you notice the ordinary world moving around you, you might find it’s not so ordinary at all! Often, you’ll notice it’s full of wonder. Be aware and awake and see what you can learn!
